Chagrin River Trail

July 24, 2025

The much-anticipated Chagrin River Trail is underway! With funding provided by multiple sources, including local, county, state, and federal entities, the City of Willoughby purchased more than 100 acres of property along the Chagrin River from the Andrews-Osborne Academy and designed a trail network to connect Daniels Park to Todd Fields. With special consideration for the highly regarded steelhead fishing environment, the plan will carefully redesign the river's edge to better manage erosion and high water events. The trail is expected to take 24 months to complete. Site acquisition was funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Euclid Avenue Pool

July 25, 2025

Willoughby City Council has approved the selection of a design team to assist in planning a newly envisioned Euclid Avenue Pool. After years of diligent maintenance, essential pool systems have failed, and it was discovered that the concrete thickness in the diving area was about 1" thick, well below safety standards. Underground pipe failures are causing approximately 3,500 gallons of water to escape the pool each day. The design team has presented several design schemes and assisted in getting community input from a survey placed on the city website, The poll, which had nearly 1,200 responses, provided clear direction to our designers, and they are currently developing a final schem to be presented to our resident in the Fall at a community meeting.

Todd Field Ampitheater

August 13, 2025

Design is underway for the Todd Field Amphitheater, which is anticipated to become an integral part of the Chagrin River Trail. The amphitheater will be a flexible space for performance and other community activities such as yoga and community meetings. It will also serve as a link to the walk and the bridge connecting to the Trail project, now under construction. Using stone from the original Glenn Avenue bridge abutments, harvested from the Chagrin River as design elements, the project is designed so as not to require relocation of any ball fields. Funding for this project is from, in part, the State of Ohio Capital Grant program.
