The Environment
The Chagrin River Trail
The administration and Council have been working on an exciting project that would create a riverfront trail from Daniels Park to Lake Erie. The Chagrin River Trail will eventually represent a 5-mile journey through an environmentally protected riparian corridor. The project involves 15 governmental, non-governmental, and nonprofit organizations working collaboratively to accomplish this effort, and is funded by over $5M in grants. In total, this project and others represent over 200 acres along the Chagrin River with environmental easements that ensures the property will never be developed.
Marous Brothers Companies Headquarters
The Marous Brothers Companies recently invested over $10M in renovations and expansion to a derelict building at the intersection of Vine Street and Rte 2. This commitment, by one of our city's largest employers, is testimony to their belief that we support local businesses and the families who build them.
University Lake West Hospital
With capital investments totaling over $20M, University Hospitals makes a bold statement that our Lake West Hospital will remain an important part of our local healthcare system. New cardiac care facilities are currently under construction and UH is working towards this facility obtaining a Level III Trauma Center, ensuring immediate emergency care for our residents, along with less transport time for our paramedics.
Lake County Executive Airport
Our Lake County Board of Commissioners and the Lake Development Authority are providing an economic boost to our Lakefront District with the construction of a new terminal building at the Lake County Executive Airport. This project, along with others has witnessed important new investment in this area, such as the new Coppia Restaurant, and elevated dining experience
